Christmas Carols & Service are at the Ashcombe Parish Church. St Nectan’s Church is a lovely 12th Century church where guests are welcome to attend the Christmas Carols which are from 6.30pm on 21 December with mulled wine and carols. Come along to enjoy a mince pie, mulled wine. Lots of carols and singing from the Good Company Singers make this a wonderful traditional Christmas Event.
St Nectan’s is a wonderful Parish Church, located at the western end of the village. (just follow signs to ‘Ashcombe’). The Church is over 800 years old and is named after the Celtic Saint St Nectan – who legend tells was cruelly beheaded by cattle thieves and obliged to carry his own head home. Foxgloves grow where his blood drops fell… in the summer the lane down to the church is full of them.
The event starts at 6.30pm and runs until about 8pm.
The Christmas Day service will be at 10am. It will finish at about 10.45.
