The Ashcombe Charity Fun Ride will be on Sunday 26th April 2015.
The 2,000 acre Ashcombe Estate in South Devon is 10 miles from Exeter and 4 miles from the sea. With rolling countryside ranging up to 900ft above sea level the views are fantastic!
This family owned private estate is opened once a year for a charity fun ride. In 2014 there were 100 horses and riders taking part, so it is growing fast.
Ashcombe raises over £20,000 for various local charities every year through a variety of events including a vibrant village hall, off road events and horse rides and shows. The secret to this has been running everything well and still keeping it fun! The event is being held in partnership with the South Devon Hunt, who provide stewards and marshals.
The Fun Ride caters for all abilities (from a pony on a leading rein to experienced eventers) and is a wonderful day out in countryside that is not usually possible for the public to ride around. The organisers have laid on optional jumps for those wishing to spice up their ride as well as quite a few opportunities for a canter across the beautiful landscape. There are two courses: a shorter 5 mile and the full-fat 10 mile which are both largely off-road. Not only that, but everyone gets a rosette at the end!
The Ashcombe Fun Ride starts at 10am and finishes at 2.30pm
Entry is £15 for adults and £10 for children.
The meeting point is at Grammarcombe Woods yard, Church Hill, Ashcombe, EX7 0QD (please note that the postcode is not specific to the site)
