The Westcountry Art Fair – Art Ashcombe – is back for 2018. Come and see an impressive range of interesting artists exhibiting painting, photography and sculpture. All pieces are for sale at (affordable!) prices. The Art Fair is at Ashcombe Village Club on 2nd and 3rd June 2018. Entry is free.
The Art Fair will showcase outstanding work by top Westcountry artists, including: Sue Peake’s landscapes in watercolour; Jenny Pery’s semi-abstract country scenes in various media; Jonathan Walker’s sporting cartoons; Mark Fielding’s grand visions of Venice and beyond, Antony Mallaby’s fine marquetry and woodwork; Sally Derrick’s wildlife bronzes; Tony Williams’s marine paintings; Shirley Smith’s wood engravings; watercolours by Robin Armstrong, one of the UK’s most respected wildlife artists; Sophie Walbeoffe’s paintings from Africa and the Middle East; Alexandra Jacobs’s wild landscapes; Ama Menec’s bronzes; Edward Netley’s life-size galvanised wire sculptures.
Art Ashcombe’s hosts are also exhibiting: Ranulf Rayner has been painting on aluminium to create his ‘Birds of a Feather’ and ‘Blue Planet’ series; Annette Rayner is well-known for her exquisite pastel animal portraits; and there will also be photography by Ralph Rayner. In addition Giles Rayner, creator of the amazing Arches of Oman water sculpture for the Sultan of Oman at the Royal Opera House in Muscat, will be exhibiting some of his unique garden fountain designs.
A percentage of sales from The Westcountry Art Fair are in aid of the Trinity Sailing Foundation, Brixham. Trinity runs residential sail-training voyages in traditional Brixham sailing trawlers for groups of young people, in particular helping those who are disadvantaged. Trinity supports the personal development of young people in meeting and overcoming challenges by working as a team to create a very real sense of achievement. Trinity also works to preserve the historic vessels as important examples of our maritime heritage, and to increase appreciation of that heritage.
The Westcountry Art Fair will be held at the Ashcombe Village Hall/ Club, Devon EX7 0QD on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 June 2018 from 11am to 6pm. A private viewing will be held on Friday 1 June 2018 from 5pm to 8pm. Westcountry Art Fair will be signed from Ashcombe Cross on the A380 Exeter to Newton Abbot road.
