Coast & Seaside
Ashcombe is only 4 miles from the seaside town of Dawlish. From a traditional ‘bucket and spade’ Dawlish Warren beach day to sailing in Starcross, walking, bird-watching, surfing in Bigbury, diving and water-skiing in Teignmouth there is something for everyone to enjoy. Read More

Ashcombe is within half an hour of Dartmoor. An area of all-year-round outstanding natural beauty. Dartmoor is one of the greatest of the 15 National Parks and has some of the most stunning views and features to explore. A 30 minute drive and you can be hiking up to the top of Haytor on Dartmoor. Family Outings
The great thing about Devon is that it is one of England’s premiere holiday destinations so there are hundreds of places for family days out from roller coasters and water-parks to excellent zoos and falconry displays. The Devon & Exeter Race Course at Haldon is just 10 minutes from Ashcombe. Newton Abbot racecourse is also less than 10 miles away and runs races from March until late summer. All the greats: Desert Orchid Best Mate, Denman and Kauto Star have started out and won at Exeter races. Read more

Haldon Forest
The miles of paths around Haldon Forest are open all year for walking and mountain biking to suit all types of people. The trails are well marked and feature delightful secret paths and features along the way which will amuse both young and old. The Go Ape! adventure course has zip-wires and climbing obstacles which can entertain for hours. Read more

Guests staying at Ashcombe in the summer are perfectly situated for the regatta events along the South Devon coast. The Red Arrows and Battle of Britain flight come to the Torbay Regatta. Other regattas have a huge variety of maritime and air events as well as a huge amount of fun family activites. Read more

Golf Courses
The Teignmouth Golf Course, barely 5 minutes away from the Ashcombe Cottages on Haldon Moor, is of traditional Mackenzie Design and one of the best heathland links golf courses in Devon. The Warren Golf Club is down by the sea at Dawlish Warren. Read more
