Haldon Forest Park is a great family day out in 3,500 acres of woodland offering miles of walking, running, riding and cycling trails, a Gruffalo orienteering trail for children, the Go Ape! highwire adventure course, cafe, the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World with opportunities for quiet reflection off the beaten path. Loads of activities and fun for all.
Walking & Cycling Forest Paths
The miles of paths around Haldon Forest are open all year for walking and mountain biking to suit all abilities. The trails are well marked and feature delightful secret paths and features along the way which will amuse both young and old. You can hire bikes to use on the trails or take your own and park at the centre.
Take a Segway Tour
If you don’t fancy peddaling why not try the off-road Segways tour: travel in style on one of the gyroscopic-controlled, eco-friendly i2 & X2 Personal Transporters. We’ve tried them and they are fun!
Go Ape!
The Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure Course has zip-wires and climbing obstacles which can entertain anyone or hours. Go Ape can look after young, old and also disabled guests. There are adult and children’s courses to choose from.
What else is there”
Well it’s not all swinging from ropes and crashing mountain bikes! You can also take a picnic or go the the Ridge Cafe. After all the exertions you probably deserved a Danish Pastry and a latte. Then it’s time to go horse riding, orienteering or on the running trails.
Travelling to Haldon Forest Park from Ashcombe Cottages takes 15 minutes. Please make sure you pay for parking as this is how the Forestry Commission funds the woodland paths and further development.
