Yacht Racing off the Devon Coast
Guests staying at Ashcombe in the summer are perfectly situated for the The Torbay Air Show and Dartmouth Regatta amongst other great events along the South Devon coastline. The Red Arrows and Battle of Britain flight come to the Torbay Air show. Other regattas have a huge variety of maritime and air events.

The Torbay Air Show is on 3-4 June 2017 at Paignton Green.  The Red Arrows feature, as well as displays by the Typhoon-Eurofighter, combat helicopters, fireworks, parachute displays, sailing races and naval demonstrations.

The Dawlish Air Show will not be run in 2017 during a period of reorganisation. Dawlish is usually the nearest event and puts on an amazing show with the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Flight plus hundreds of other participants jetting into the action. A few of the inhabitants of Ashcombe have had a go at Wing Walking… usually only once though! There is also the Dawlish Carnival in August: The Pram Race is a particular comedy highlight.

Torbay Week is a week long event of separate regattas from 18th to 23rd August 2017 combining Babbacombe, Brixham, Paignton and Royal Torbay Regattas into one huge sailing event covering many classes of dinghis and yachts. The RNLI fancy dress pursuit race is a highlight

The Royal Dartmouth Regatta on 23th, 25th and 24th August 2017, is great fun featuring Pub & Club Rowing, Sailing and a massive fireworks display at 9.30pm on 22 August.

The Shaldon Regatta at the end of August is designed for family participation, and is bursting with fun events to watch and participate in. There are rowing and motor boat races, sailing races, children’s sandcastle competitions and beach races. Enter the five-a-side football contest and the rubber duck race. The event finishes with beach cricket, sailing and swimming events leading to the finale: a Pillow Fight for over 16’s.

If you are staying in your holiday cottage outside of August do not despair! The Brixham Trawler Race is on 17th June 2017 and Paignton Festival (22-30 July) and Teignmouth Carnival (22-27 July) are good fun.
