Our principle objectives are to provide excellent customer service and ensure that your stay is a proper holiday. Our returning groups, families and friends often book our larger holiday cottages years ahead for special occasions.
The cottages have many facilities and things to do but the stunning South Devon countryside remains the star attraction. South Devon beaches and coastline as well as the Dartmoor National Park are right on the doorstep – so if you want a fun and relaxing holiday Ashcombe is the place to stay.
Things to do?
All Ashcombe guests can enjoy swimming at the main indoor pool or perhaps your own private outdoor swimming pool renting either the Cider Barn or Nut Tree Farm. Explore the estate woodland walks or join a foraging expedition. There’s miles of road cycling on lanes (with some hills if you like them!) and mountain biking at Haldon Forest, or get really stuck in at Ashcombe’s outdoor activity centre with quad bikes, paintball and clay pigeon shooting. Sounds like too much effort? Come dine with us at Ashcombe’s Woodland Kitchen outdoor restaurant.
Location is everything!
Take a 4 mile drive to down the lanes to the sandy beaches of Dawlish and Teignmouth or hop on the dual carriageway for the 20 minute trip to the historic city of Exeter. Located in the Heart of Devon just 10 minutes from the M5 and 2 miles from the A380, there’s no need to sit in the car for those extra hours when nearly everything is on the doorstep.
Ashcombe is a 2,000 acre estate. The Rayner Family have been its custodians since 1932. Described as the ‘hidden valley’, Ashcombe’s beautiful scenery and friendly atmosphere is treasured by villagers and visitors alike. There are walks in the ancient Tower Plantation and miles of country lanes to amble down, a 12th Century church to visit and perfect rural views to admire. Relax with a pint of Ashcombe Cider at The Ashcombe Village Club when you have finished your day.
Our members of staff are nearly all villagers or live within 5 miles of the Estate. Each person working in Ashcombe often has more than one special skill. The owner is also the photographer and web designer; our maintenance manager is also a carpenter, plumber and local surfer; our award winning gardener is also a Queen’s Nurse!
Ashcombe is less than 4 miles from the South Devon coast, 10 miles from Exeter and 15 miles from Dartmoor National Park so there is always plenty to do whether you wish to walk or drive from your cottage. Very easy to get to but still quiet and rural, Ashcombe is indeed a hidden gem in the Heart of Devon.
